Argelia's Story
Caregiving Rewarding?"
I have been working as a caregiver for 19 months. I have never been appreciated so much in any other job. My clients are constantly thanking me for being there for them. It's a joy to go work for them every day because while I'm there, I'm not only helping them with their needs but I also hear stories about their younger days. Their stories are amazing, funny, happy and sad. You ought to see their faces when they tell me stories about the good old days – running through the fields, milking cows, walking to school, or swimming in the river. A lot of things they used to do (good and bad). Sometimes a few tears fill their eyes when they remember something happy, but sad at the same time. We laugh and we cry together.
I feel so blessed because God has brought them into my life. I have learned so many good things from them. I have learned to be more loving, caring and giving. Do I like my job? Yes. Do I feel blessed? Yes. You see, I don't see them as my clients, but I see them as members of my family. To work for them is a joy, not a chore.
