Shield HealthCare wanted to recognize caregivers for their dedication and talent. Caregiving is one of the most difficult jobs in the world, and one of the most rewarding. This year we asked caregivers to submit helpful advice for other caregivers. We received more than 1,000 entries and are looking forward to sharing the winning entries with our readers.

With the holidays approaching, what advice would you give a fellow caregiver about caring for a loved one during family get-togethers? What travel tips would you give someone traveling with chronic medical needs? How about mealtimes or medications? Caregivers are experts in taking care of their loved ones or patients, their families and themselves. In 150 words or more, tell us what you wish someone had shared with you when you first became a caregiver.
Please submit a 150-word, or more, typed entry. You must include your name, mailing address, and phone number. One entry per person. Contest begins Nov. 1 and ends Jan. 31, 2018. Entries must be submitted online or emailed with confirmed receipt by Jan. 31, 2018. At least one independent party will judge the entries. Shield HealthCare (Shield) employees are ineligible. Shield may publish and use submitted content for publication at no cost. Shield will notify contest winners by Feb. 9, 2018. Other restrictions apply.
