Representatives from Shield HealthCare were honored to attend and present at the San Bernardino County Public Authority 6th Annual National Caregiver Appreciation Day on November 15, 2011. This day is celebrated to recognize the dedicated work of In-Home Support Services (IHSS) caregivers for their great patience, commitment and compassion.

Although the work of an IHSS caregiver is both physically demanding and emotionally challenging, it strongly promotes independence, dignity and quality of life. IHSS caregivers provide services and support which make it possible for low income, disabled and elderly residents to remain living independently in their homes.

IHSS caregivers were excited to learn about Shield HealthCare’s home medical supply services, as well as the annual caregiver story contest on “What Makes Caregiving Rewarding?” The story contest was a big hit with more than 580 entries received and the largest percentage coming from caregivers in the Inland Empire. Contest winners from various states were notified on Wednesday, December 14, 2011.  Winning stories will soon be posted on Shield HealthCare’s website at www.shieldhealthcare.com
