Having a sick child is overwhelming, no matter their age. Preparing for your child’s ostomy surgery can be especially difficult since relatively few people are aware of what an ostomy is. But it’s important to not only do research so that you are intellectually prepared for your child’s surgery, but also so that you are emotionally prepared. The best support you can give to your child is to make the surgery a positive experience. In this video, our Ostomy Lifestyle Specialist, Laura Cox, gives tips about how to react positively to seeing your child’s stoma for the first time.
