Course objectives:
•Understand the types of Ostomies with respect to physiology of the digestive system
•Know the most common medical conditions leading to ostomy surgery
•Teach the patient post-operative and daily care for the stoma
•Prepare the patient for discharge and life after ostomy surgery
•Understand the importance of diet, the effect of medications and common ostomy complications
The workshop also includes hands-on training for pouching and managing difficult stomas.
