Stay tuned to our upcoming events with the Shield HealthCare monthly newsletter! This December we are recognizing:
National Safe Toys and Gifts Month
This December, Shield HealthCare encourages everyone to observe National Safe Toys and Gifts Month. Hospital emergency rooms treat more than 250,00 toy-related injuries in the United States each year. National Safe Toys and Gifts Month is a project led by Prevent Blindness America to help families keep safe toy guidelines in mind when buying and accepting toys for children.
December 1st-7th: Recognizing Aplastic Anemia and MDS Week
Aplastic anemia is a very rare bone marrow failure disease. Approximately 600 to 900 people in the U.S. are diagnosed with aplastic anemia each year. Blood cells, which are created by bone marrow, are critical to supplying oxygen to our organs, fighting off infection and clotting our blood. People with aplastic anemia may have significant fatigue, recurring fevers and persistent bladder infections.
