Stay tuned to our upcoming events with the Shield HealthCare monthly newsletter! This January we are recognizing:
National Birth Defects Prevention Awareness Month
Every 4 ½ minutes, a baby is born with a birth defect in the United States. Public awareness, social support systems and community resources are essential for caregivers of those with birth defects and genetic disorders. Shield HealthCare respects and understands the dedicated role of caregivers for those with chronic medical needs.
January 25th: Celebrating I.V. Nurse Day
Every year on January 25th, Shield HealthCare celebrates I.V. Nurse Day. This day means a great deal to the many infusion nurses who have dedicated their lives to providing quality patient care. Infusion treatment is needed with 90% or more of all hospitalized patients, and I.V. nurses have unique experience, skills and knowledge in the highly specialized field of infusion.
National Blood Donor Month: Giving the Gift of Life
Every day in the United States, approximately 39,000 units of blood are required in hospitals and emergency treatment facilities. Just one pint of donated blood can help save the lives of up to three people. This donated blood is needed daily for patients with cancer and other diseases, for organ transplant recipients, accident victims and more.
