Inland Empire Health Plan – one of the fastest growing not-for-profit Medicare and Medi-Cal health plans in California – is celebrating the enrollment of one million members, marking a new chapter in its 18-year history of serving communities in Riverside and San Bernardino.
“We are proud of this milestone,” said Dr. Bradley Gilbert, IEHP chief executive officer. “What has really helped us during this challenging time of rapid growth has been the support from our providers and community partners, and especially the hard work of our team.”
Dr. Gilbert added that IEHP’s team culture and core values were instrumental in reaching one million members, because they inspire employees – called “team members” at IEHP – to respect others, to positively partner with our providers, and to do the right thing for our members.
“This achievement reflects our team’s ability to meet the needs of our members, and it shows our commitment to evolve and grow,” said Susan Arcidiacono, IEHP chief marketing officer.
In 1996, IEHP was launched with 62,000 Medi-Cal members. By the 2005, enrollment increased to 300,000; in 2011 it reached 500,000. In recent years, changes from the state’s health policies and
the national healthcare reform law helped propel IEHP to reach one million members.
