From the novice to the well-seasoned veteran, this hour-long session will provide a step-by-step approach for conducting the perfect stoma assessment.

Webinar Objectives

Upon conclusion participants will be able to: 

• Define key terminology used in ostomy management 
• Identify five clinical characteristics assessed during a stomal and peristomal skin assessment

Who should attend?

Clinicians that are interested in ostomy care or work directly with ostomy patients, including: LPN, RN, NP, PT, PTA, OT, OTA, Nurse Managers, Treatment Nurses.

Who is eligible to receive Continuing Education Contact Hours:

NURSE: Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider # 14094 for 1.0 CE Contact Hour. Certificate must be retained by the licensee for a period of 4 years after course completion.

PHYSICAL THERAPIST: The Wound Care Education Institute is an approved Physical Therapy Continuing Education Sponsor, License 216.00157 by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation Certificate. Must be retained by the licensee for a period of 5 years after course completion.

About Joy Hooper, RN, BSN, CWOCN, OMS, WCC Clinical Instructor

Joy is a nurse entrepreneur with twenty years of experience working in a variety of hospital and in-home care settings. A graduate of the Emory University WOCN program, she has been certified as a Wound, Ostomy, and Continence nurse since 2002. She is board certified by the WOCN as a CWOCN and by the NAWCO as an OMS.
