More than “eating healthy” or “staying fit”, diet and exercise about making you feel good in your own body — as good as possible, at least. Our Spinal Cord Injury, Aaron Baker, is keenly aware that each body is different, and is often reluctant to give “tips” for how others should be living. But he knows that others find it helpful to know what has worked for him, and other members of our Spinal Cord Injury community.

In regards to diet, those with spinal cord injuries are more likely to have health problems related to weight gain, changes in cholesterol, blood pressure and high blood sugar. Not being as active may contribute largely to these problems.

When it comes to exercise, fitness is not a one-size-fits-all model. Mindset, nutrition, movement, and recovery all contribute to prevention, rehabilitation, and management of chronic health issues. Aaron has attributed his ongoing process to “mindful movement” and in the following blogs he shares his process of over 19 years.
