In this seventh video in our series about getting around in a wheelchair in different metropolitan areas, Aaron explores Houston, Texas, while covering the public transportation scene. As spinal cord injury survivor for over 18 years, Aaron Baker wants to help others get out, travel around the country and see everything our major metropolitan areas have to offer!

In this video from Shield HealthCare’s Spinal Cord Injury Lifestyle Specialist, watch Aaron explore Houston, Texas. Aaron arrived at the Hobby Airport and takes a bus to downtown – an experience he does not recommend. But upon exploring the Texas Medical Center area and the Houston Zoo, he finds the city both accessible and charming. Aaron’s heart, however, belongs to the NASA Space Center, and he’s “fired up” about seeing Saturn V. Join Aaron as he uses public transportation to discover Houston.

This video focuses on Aaron using a wheelchair in Houston, but we want to know: where should he head to next? Let us know in the comments!

I have a trip coming up and I am having trouble envisioning how I can safely and hygienically self-catheterize in a typical men’s restroom stall.

Travel can be intimidating with all the unknown variables, especially when it comes to using bathroom facilities that may be less accessible, unkempt and under-equipped. My best defense against this is a strong offense, meaning preparation!
