Are you, or is someone you care for, newly diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease? We are pleased to share that The Neurocommunity Foundation is holding its annual PD 101 class for those who are new to Parkinson’s disease and their families. Dr. Yvette Bordelon, MD, PHD, a movement disorders specialist and assistant professor at UCLA, will be leading the class at Northridge Hospital Medical Center on Saturday, September 28th from 2 pm to 4 pm.
“PD 101” is for people who have been diagnosed for less than two years, but anyone who would like a refresher is free to attend. The class will cover:
- Basic neurology, diagnosis, disease process and symptoms
- Treatment options, exercise and nutrition
- Mind-body connections, including depression, sleep disorders, and coping
- Talking to your doctor
- What to expect when caregiving
The class is free, but registration is required; for more information or to register please call 818-885-8623. PD 101 will be held in the lower level Education Auditorium of Northridge Hospital Medical Center, and seating will start at 1:30 pm. Parking is $5, or free with a disabled placard (entrance will be on Etiwanda Avenue, adjacent to the main entrance).
